In addition to the core training, there are numerous optional activities performed on other nights of the week and/or weekends including:

  • Olympiad (sports events)
  • Museum Sleepover
  • Summer Camp
  • First Aid
  • Hangar 11 (assorted activities such as model aircraft, sports, etc)
  • Vintage Wings (assisting with static aircraft exhibits along with veteran pilots)
  • Assisting Seniors
  • Poppy Sales

When a cadet has signed up for an event, either regular or optional, it is expected that they phone the squadron staff if they are unable to participate so that they can be marked as excused. This help the staff with planning and, at times, can also reduce expenses associated with the event or or allow another cadet a chance to participate in their place (provided that there is sufficient notice).
