Big Thanks to all Cadets, Volunteers, Parents, and Sponsors who participated in our Walkathon this Sunday!

We had 48 cadets walking and raised a total of $4157.50! Way To Go!

We had 95 cadets at Camp Smitty all weekend. There was lots of rain to be seen and mud aplenty.

The staff did a great job of keeping the cadets busy, completing their performance objectives (POs) and supervised. Meanwhile, the dozen parent volunteers kept the food flowing – 3 meals and 3 snacks per day. It is something to see the speed with which 120+ servings can be prepared, distributed, consumed, and cleaned up when people work together.

Despite the conditions, there were a lot of smiling faces and an unimaginable number of emphatic thank-yous.

Once again, it was a great team effort by all involved. We worked hard and we played hard.

To all involved – it was a slice.

Chair Parent Sponsoring Committee.

We have had another highly successful Bush Weekend.

The days were long and event filled. The vast majority of the activities were outdoors and the weather was certainly less than ideal. However, despite all of the challenges, the cadets were eager and active to participate, learned a number of new skills, and had fun along the way. By Sunday morning, there were some rather exhausted looking faces coming into the mess hall, however they were still very enthusiastic, polite, and appreciative as they came through the kitchen. It is hard to believe that we had almost 100 youth for the whole weekend, however, this wasn’t your typical youth.

This would not have been possible without all of the effort, preparation, planning, and administration by the squadron staff over the last couple of months as well as all of the effort and training invested into the senior cadets over the last several years to allow them to grow to the level that they could effectively help run such an event. The new cadets are learning and developing skills to allow them to take on the same role over the next few years and pass their knowledge on to the next generation of cadets.

Finally, no group can go through a weekend like this on an empty stomach and every effort was made to ensure that that was not the case. This would not have been possible without a team of enthusiastic and keen parent volunteers working in the kitchen to get the mountains of food ready, mobilize it to the food line in time for the eager appetites, clean up afterwards, and then get ready for the next round.

Thanks to all for a great weekend.

We are looking for a few empty seats for transportation to bush weekend (Oct 29-31). We have two buses booked, however, we are in need of another 16 seats to be able to transport all of the cadets to Camp Smitty.

If you are planning to go up to Camp Smitty and have seat(s) available, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can determine if we need to make other arrangements.

Thanks,

Glenn Bruneau
